Responsibilities include: directing Center staff and projects to deliver collaboratively developed technology solutions for academic and research purposes; writing and fostering grants; developing collaborative ideas in the effective use of technology for teaching, learning, and research; developing Center projects from idea to deployment; maintaining knowledge of innovative teaching and learning technologies such as e-portfolio software, student response systems, scanning software applications, eBooks, GIS, video conferencing, distance learning, etc. Media Services which includes all classroom technology support will report to this position.

Qualifications

Master’s degree required, doctoral or other terminal degree preferred. Minimum of 2 years supervisory experience. Must have excellent leadership, interpersonal, customer service, and analytical problem solving skills. The University of Tennessee at Martin seeks applications for Dean of the College of Education, Health, and Behavioral Sciences. The University of Tennessee at Martin is a primary campus in the University of Tennessee System and is located in Northwest Tennessee approximately 125 miles north of Memphis and 150 miles west of Nashville. The University of Tennessee at Martin has a combined graduate and undergraduate enrollment of approximately 8,000 students. Description: The Dean of the College of Education, Health, and Behavioral Sciences is the chief academic officer of the College reporting to the Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs. There are approximately 77 faculty members in the College of Education, Health, and Behavioral Sciences within in the four academic departments: Behavioral Sciences (Sociology, Psychology, Social Work, & Criminal Justice); Educational Studies; Health and Human Performance; and Nursing. The College of Education, Health, and Behavioral Sciences also houses the Office of Interdisciplinary Studies.

Qualifications

The successful candidate must possess the following qualifications: 1) a terminal degree/earned doctorate in a discipline within the College; 2) academic record of effective leadership as a dean, assistant dean, chair or equivalent administrative position with direct supervision of faculty and staff, 3) significant experience in planning, budgeting, assessment and interdisciplinary program development, and success in obtaining grant funding; 4) demonstrated knowledge of and ability to work collaboratively as a supportive member of an academic team; 5) knowledge of accreditation processes in the College which include NCATE, NLNAC, and CSWE; 6) academic credentials sufficient to qualify for the rank of Associate or Professor; and 7) vision and interpersonal skills needed to work collegially with diverse faculty, students, alumni, school partners, and professionals across disciplines.

The Naifeh Center for Effective Leadership is an agency of the University of Tennessee, Institute for Public Service. The Naifeh Center for Effective Leadership provides training and leadership development programs for public sector leaders. These programs currently include the Tennessee Government Management Institute, the Tennessee Government Executive Institute, the Local Government Leadership Program, and other workshop series and programs. The program manager position leads, manages, develops, implements, and evaluates a full range of activities related to leadership development, including budget responsibility in excess of $1.5 million dollars.

Qualifications

This position requires a master’s degree in public administration, political science, social sciences, humanities, or human resource development. Advanced graduate degree is preferred. The applicant must have six years or more of extensive experience in a leadership position preferably in a government or university setting. Work experience with an appropriate combination of planning and delivering training programs and working with local and state government is preferred. The applicant must have the ability to develop and sustain high quality working relationships with senior public sector leaders; ability to lead and supervise professional, administrative, and support staff; knowledge of leadership principles and practices; knowledge of state and local government in Tennessee; knowledge of procedures for approval of IACET training programs; knowledge of fiscal and administrative procedures in a large organization; ability to communicate with the Institute for Public Service leadership team; ability to develop plans, budgets and execution strategies for major programs for state and local government; ability to manage several complex projects and related staff simultaneously; and ability to develop and deploy effective strategies for fund raising. The purpose of this position is to assist in the development, marketing, and coordination of law enforcement training across the United States. This position will assist in the development and distribution of training and is one of the primary points of contact with regard to course registration and marketing for the program. This position maintains course offerings, maintains instructor files, assists in the development of training budgets, assists in the recruitment of potential training participants, maintains student files, maintains alumni contacts, creates and maintains various agency databases, aids in marketing, and other miscellaneous duties where assigned. This position serves as the initial contact between the organization and its customer service region.

Qualifications

A Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration, Political Science, Social Sciences, Human Resource Development, Criminal Justice or a related field is required.

The successful applicant must have 3 years of work experience in one or more of the following: public or governmental service, education, sales, training development, and/or event management and project coordination. Experience should at a minimum include a broad knowledge of program management, contract implementation, administrative management, and training coordination.

Oral, written communication, and advanced computer skills are required. The ability to plan, coordinate, manage, promote and complete assignments in a timely manner is critical. The person must also have the ability to represent the Law Enforcement Innovation Center and form relationships and partnerships with subject matter experts, potential stakeholders, law enforcement professionals, educators, and staff and University employees. These skills would include but not be limited to technical writing, grant writing, articles for publication, etc. Multi-tasking is essential to maintain control of the variety of responsibilities of this position. Must be able to professionally articulate and possess the ability to make presentations and proposals to potential stakeholders and/or LEIC customers explaining the services offered by the agency as well as the specifics for each training provided. To remain on the leading edge, this person must be familiar and comfortable with technology advances–particularly as they are becoming more commonplace in the classroom or training facility and be able to make use of state of the art techniques when designing instructional materials for LEIC programs. Must obtain or have a valid TN driver’s license.
