Description:
The Department of Instructional Systems and Workforce Development is recognized as the leader in Mississippi in the preparation, development and continuing education of persons in the area of technology and education. The department offers three undergraduate degrees in Industrial Technology, Information Technology Services and Technology Teacher Education. At the graduate level, the department offers master’s, specialist and doctoral degrees. Graduate programs include Instructional Systems and Workforce Development, Instructional Technology, Technology and Workforce Development Education. The State Department of Education and the Department of Instructional Systems and Workforce Development have various ongoing relationships that strengthen the instructional technology abilities of the populace. The department, within the College of Education, is accredited by the National Council on Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) and is a member of the American Association of Colleges of Teacher Education.

Responsibilities:
This position requires one to teach in the Department of Instructional Systems and Workforce Development in the areas of Instructional Technology and Technology Teacher Education and to teach graduate level courses in instructional design and educational technology. The person must supervise business technology teacher education interns, engage in curriculum development and revision, develop new courses aligned with INTASC, NCATE and other appropriate standards, develop and maintain an ongoing program of national scholarly research related to instructional design and educational technology and develop and submit research proposals to appropriate national agencies and foundations.
Advising undergraduate and graduate students and supervising the development and completion of master’s and educational specialist theses and doctoral dissertations is required.
Providing appropriate service, at the departmental, college, university, community, state and national levels, to enhance the field of technology, is also a major requirement of this position. Furthermore, this person must engage in active service in professional associations and work closely with the Mississippi Department of Education. Finally, this person must participate with other faculty to achieve common goals.

Minimum Qualifications:

[*]Earned doctorate in educational technology or closely related field [*]Evidence of professional scholarship, demonstrating an established research agenda and ability to secure funding for research activities (ABD candidates will not be
considered)
[*]For appointment as Associate Professor, candidate must have a demonstrated record of scholarly research publications and must have consistently demonstrated an ability to perform at a satisfactory level in teaching, research and service and excel in at least one of these areas. Level of appointment will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Criteria established in the departmental promotion and tenure guidelines for rank of associate professor will apply [/list]
